2024 Fall Release
“You take it on faith, you take it to the heart. The waiting is the hardest part.” - Tom Petty
This is your sign to SLOW DOWN...
We know how easy it is to get swept up in the busyness of life - rushing from one place to the next, rarely pausing to be fully present. Now, as the seasons shift and the nights get longer, the draw to do less is calling.
After the whirlwind of harvest, and opening The River Club with two young kiddos in tow, we are ready to embrace a slower pace and enjoy the day-to-day moments.
When we started 8 years ago, our hope was to create a sense of community around wine and adventure. Now, having a physical space to welcome you has been such a joyful realization of that dream. To those who have visited, we are so grateful. And for those who haven't yet, our doors are (mostly) always open.
But even if you can't visit us in person, sipping our wines at home or out on an adventure is a way to carry that sense of belonging with you, wherever you are. Each bottle is a snapshot of a moment in time and the culmination of a season's work.
The wines in this fall release are a reminder that good things take time. We've dreamt of making Gamay from Barsotti Vineyard for years and the Grand Prismatic SLO Coast Syrah has been patiently aging in bottle since the beginning of this year.
Barsotti Vineyard has the most pronounced granite of all of the sites we are lucky enough to source from. The pink granite from the Musick soil series is complemented by huge granite boulders, where the vineyard blocks slope gently towards the deepest section of the American River Canyon. This is a very special place ideally situated to make amazing Gamay, and is the perfect bright and lively wine for your holiday table.
Our Grand Prismatic label features a unique experimental wine each year, and Vol. 3 in this series brings you a Syrah from the SLO Coast AVA. The Zepherino vineyard felt like going home to Bertus, with its proximity to the ocean and the ancient uplifted seabed soils. The wine is as vivid as the label with a meatiness and depth that is perfect for the cooler months ahead.
So sip with intention, with friends and loved ones, with slow cooked meals, and your favorite album or playlist.
Stay Present. Stay Wild. And trust the timing of your life.
With love and gratitude,
Alli, Bertus, Margo, and Maddie
